SMOKE ALARM INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE
ATTENTION ALL PROPERTY OWNERS & AND LANDLORDS
From 1 January 2027, QLD smoke alarm legislation is changing!

What's Changing?

From 1 January 2027, all properties must have photoelectric interconnected smoke alarms.

Photoelectric smoke alarms respond to a wide range of fires but are particularly responsive to smouldering fires and dense smoke, the most common type of household fire.

Having interconnected alarms means that when one alarm is activated, all alarms will sound. The extra time that gives you can make all the difference.

SMOKE ALARMS MUST BE:

-
Photoelectric and less than 10 years old
-
Meet the new Australian Standard 3786-2014
-
Interconnected with every other smoke alarm in the property so that they all activate at the same time
-
Hardwired (connected to the mains power) OR
-
Wireless and powered by a non-removable 10 year lithium battery or a combination of both
-
Installed on each storey of the dwelling
-
Installed in each bedroom
-
Installed in hallways that connect bedrooms to the rest of the property, OR
-
If there is no hallway, between the bedrooms and the other parts of the storey
